About the event

Sara Wolfin will lead an exploration of what ADHD really is, beginning with group discussion to uncover perceptions and challenge common media myths. She’ll explain the clinical definition (DSM‑5), outline how the ADHD brain differs neurologically, and show how these differences shape daily life. Sara will discuss contributing factors, especially genetics, and examine how executive dysfunction makes everyday tasks harder, alongside co‑existing conditions such as anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction and eating disorders. She’ll highlight issues like emotional dysregulation, masking‑related burnout and rejection sensitivity dysphoria, often the most painful aspect for clients. Emphasising why understanding ADHD matters, Sara will share research linking untreated ADHD to reduced life expectancy. She’ll outline the diagnostic process and how therapists can support clients seeking assessment, review treatment options—including the benefits and limitations of medication—and explore alternative strategies such as diet, exercise and mindfulness.
