About the event

This training will provide an insight into the use of Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in your practice. The day will begin with an introduction to working with mindfulness through a mixture of theory and practical (individual and group) exercises. Ben will then go into more detail about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, again using a mix of theory and activities so that people leave with some practical tips.

Whilst Ben works predominantly with young people, as with his previous workshop at ITD on working with anxiety in adolescents, many of the skills discussed in this workshop are transferable to working with older clients. ACT focuses on identifying individuals’ values and how they can strive to live true to these, often in the face of any adversity. The values are often developed during adolescence and the skills discussed can be really helpful when working with older clients too .

As counsellors starting to run our own workshops and groups with therapists, we have found Ben provides an excellent model of how to present an absorbing and informative day, with the participants engaged right until the end.

Attendee Feedback from Ben’s previous workshop for ITD on Working with Anxiety and Adolescents:

"I found Ben very personable. Well paced, and time allowed for questions and observations from participants."

"Covered aspects of CBT I was aware of but great refresher plus some new ideas." "Excellent mix of informative and reflective. A very skilled practitioner” "Interesting well-structured content” "Very engaging and charismatic, would be interested to hear him speak again." “Superb content. Obviously a lifetime study, but well-structured base to continue."

"Very interesting topic, lots of useful strategies to take away and use in practice."
